Pet friendly holiday cottage, sleeps 2 - Halifax, Yorkshire

Everything you need for a tranquil and romantic getaway is inside this charming cottage with a bright open-plan layout and a wooden beamed ceiling. Set in a small village in West Yorkshire, a couple plus their beloved canine companion can enjoy the convenience of amenities in the nearby town of Halifax while also being within reach of the Peak District National Park. Enter the cottage to find an airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with a vaulted ceiling and double-aspect windows.

To the right of this neutral-toned space is a sleek L-shaped fitted kitchen with glossy grey cabinets and white surface tops. Dividing the kitchen area from the lounge is a breakfast bar with bar stools. Two plump grey sofas sit in front of the patio doors and on the floor is a soft rug for Fido to curl up on.

Completing the interior is a contemporary wet room with a rainfall shower head, and a king-size bedroom with wooden furnishings. Outside you will find a courtyard with a table and chairs. Explore your immediate surroundings to find an art gallery and a handful of eateries in the village of Greetland (all within 1 mile).

Wander around the Salterhebble Top Lock scenic point and along the River Calder (2 miles). Head into Halifax (4 miles) to enjoy a meal out at a dog-friendly pub and soak up the countryside views from Penistone Hill Country Park (12 miles). Near here are the historical Long Bridge and Lower Laithe Reservoir (13 miles).

Literary enthusiasts shouldn't miss the circular trail around Bronte Waterfalls and Top Withens (14.5 miles) which is said to have inspired Emily Bronte. In the northern tip of the Peak District National Park, you can follow hiking trails around Black Hill or Butterley Reservoir (all within 14.5 miles).
