This gorgeous period cottage is on the outskirts of the quaint village of Goodrich, amongst the rolling countryside of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The property is ideal for large families and groups of friends, with a sociable, open-plan layout. The village's fascinating medieval castle is a short, 0.5-mile walk away, and you'll also be 200 metres from the traditional village inn.

For shopping and eating out, Ross-on-Wye is 4 miles away. The 14th-century stone cottage is full of period features and is furnished with traditional, antique-style pieces that really complement the property. The ground floor is open plan with a vast lounge/kitchen/diner – the perfect spot for spending quality time together.

At one end is a bespoke kitchen area, where the original cider press has been converted into a stylish breakfast bar/island. The opposite end of the room houses a cosy lounge area, with comfortable seating arranged around a wood burner and TV/DVD. There is a ground-floor super-king-size bedroom with an accessible wet room and its own entrance from the parking area.

The remaining bedrooms are upstairs, both of which have en-suite facilities. Outside, dine alfresco on the terrace and toast marshmallows around the firepit. Guests are also welcome to explore the extensive, shared grounds surrounding the property.

Take a stroll around the pretty streets of Ross-on-Wye, which are lined with pastel-coloured period properties and historic buildings. As well as having a good selection of traditional shops and eateries, you'll also find intriguing antique stores and vintage boutiques to browse. If you fancy a day amongst nature, head to the iconic viewpoint of Symonds Yat Rock (3.5 miles).

As well as offering spectacular vistas across the Wye Valley, it's also a haven for birdwatchers with peregrine falcons and buzzards circling overhead.
