Open the door to this cute wooden hideaway and wander in to find a sun-soaked, open-plan lounge/diner, where you and your loved one can enjoy quality time together. Snuggle up in front of the TV or read your books as the wood burner casts its cosy glow. Take turns at whipping up exquisite meals through in the kitchen then dine together in style at the table.

Listen to music through the Bluetooth speaker as you sip fresh coffee from the machine or open another bottle of wine. When day turns to night climb the stairs to the top floor of the charming bolthole to indulge in a fabulous night's sleep in the double bedroom, with its light-filled en-suite shower room. Dine out in the sunshine of your garden on sunny days.

Fire up the BBQ and cook supper outside on summer evenings as well. Head off on foot or by bicycle to explore your picturesque surroundings. Also go canoeing or pony trekking in the area.

Plan a day out to Monmouth, 10.5 miles away and over the border into Wales. Pause at the Kymin, the National Trust's interesting 18th-century round house and naval temple, with far-reaching views, also 10.5 miles from the cottage. Pick up the Offa's Dyke Path near Monmouth and follow it for a stretch.

This long-distance route follows much of the borderline between Wales and England.
