Dog friendly holiday cottage, sleeps 2 - Newbiggin-on-Lune, Cumbria

Property Summary

With plenty of places to explore on foot, leave the car behind and adventure the days away before returning to this characterful home from home.

Positioned amongst the vibrant walking territory of the Eden Valley, this traditional stone cottage offers a faultless base for two hiking friends. Also dog friendly, the property encourages you to explore all kinds of countryside appeals close by, sitting within the borders of the Yorkshire Dales National Park with the Lake District accessible just a short distance away (14.5 miles). Breathtaking viaducts, handsome waterfalls and limestone-studded peaks can be found close by, with waymarked pathways and nature trails plotted right past your doorstep and onwards to adventure.

Lace up your walking boots and get exploring, always with the warm, welcoming appeal of this cosy two-storey cottage to invite you home at the end of each day. Wander through the shared gardens with a summerhouse and firepit before heading inside. Once indoors, your space is your own and peaceful privacy is assured.

The twin bedroom is situated on the ground floor, accompanied by a refreshing shower room. Moving upstairs, the open-plan living area is a welcoming space with a kitchen on one side and a lounge on the other. The living room features plush leather seating options, a wood burner-effect fire and a TV/DVD player for restful evenings in, always best enjoyed after a hearty meal prepared in the kitchen and enjoyed at the dining table.

Set off walking along an established pathway or make your own route, exploring the exotic flora of Great Asby Scar (4 miles), the scenic view of Smardale Gill Viaduct (8.5 miles) and the cascading beauty of Cautley Spout waterfall (10 miles) as you go. You can plot a route that ends in Kirkby Stephen (7 miles), your nearest town, to enjoy some hard-earned refreshments in country pubs or a restaurant. The pretty River Eden runs right through its centre and independent shops and a regular market adds to the appeal of the town.
