For couples in search of a romantic Welsh retreat, this cute hillside cottage with original stone walls and low-hanging beams awaits. The bijou abode offers everything that two guests may need for an utterly relaxing stay. It’s also pet-friendly, inviting up to three dogs to stay and explore walks from the doorstep alongside you.

Wander down to Kidwelly (0.5 miles) to explore the ancient castle or take a trip to Saint Ishmael (3.5 miles) to spend time on the shingle beach or walk along the famed Wales Coast Path. After days filled with adventure, cosy interiors and a sunny exterior await for evenings of fun. Old meets new in this charming cottage for two, a place where original farmhouse features have been punctuated with modern décor and ample lighting to make the place bright and cheerful.

The lounge/diner is the cosiest spot to curl up in, complete with a wood burner effect electric fire to keep you warm whether you’re watching the TV or sitting down to dinner. The kitchen with a full range of appliances is just next door. A single flight of stairs leads up to the inviting king-size bedroom, also with a TV for movie nights in bed, and a spacious bathroom with a bath to soak in after days at the beach.

Pass through the enclosed gravelled area shared with the next-door property and find walking routes to follow immediately. Walk up to the Kidwelly Standing Stone (1.5 miles) and discover old tinworks landmarks around the banks of the river (1.5 miles). A little further away, Pembrey Country Park (5.5 miles) is a fantastic place to walk with 500 acres of woodlands and golden sand beaches.

There’s even a ski centre with dry slopes for a thrilling activity day (6 miles).
