Gaze out towards the beautiful Black Mountains when you stay at this attractive retreat in the borderlands of England and Wales. Sleeping six guests, the sumptuous, three-bedroom abode is situated in Longtown, 10.5 miles from Abergavenny and enjoys views out towards Bannau Brycheiniog, also known as the Brecon Beacons, just over 1 mile away. Return from your trips out to bubble in the hot tub and bask beside a crackling wood burner.

Let yourselves into this hideaway and from the hall head into the lounge to light the wood burner and perhaps watch some TV. Relax in the snug instead if you fancy a little quiet time with your holiday novel or wish to enjoy something different on TV. Unpack any shopping you have bought in the spacious kitchen/diner.

Make dinner here too and pour yourself a glass of wine to sip as you set the table for dinner. A cloakroom area, utility room and WC are also downstairs. When eyelids begin to droop, venture upstairs to the first floor where your beautiful bedrooms are situated.

These include two super-king-sizes with en-suite shower rooms and a twin. There is also a family bathroom. Spill out into the gorgeous, mature garden to dine in the sunshine or head over to the games room to play table tennis.

Fire up the hot tub and take in the views. Pull on your walking boots and stroll 0.5 miles to see the remains of Longtown Castle. Famous Grosmont Castle, one of the renowned Three Castles of Gwent is just 8.5 miles from your base.

Follow a section of Offa's Dyke Path, which runs along much of the border of England and Wales. Plan a day out to the foodie town of Abergavenny to browse in the shops and stock up on delicious Welsh produce.
