Take the children to the Milky Way Adventure Park (4.5 miles) or stroll the cobbled streets of Clovelly Village and its harbour (7 miles).

Whether you're enjoying an al fresco bite on the decking looking out onto the gardens or you're off for a swift half at the local pub (1 mile), there's somewhere for everyone to feel at home here. The interiors have a charming country-cottage open-plan feel with colourful yet understated tiling in the kitchen and a stunning stone feature fireplace in the lounge. Double aspect windows make the space bright and airy during the day but light the wood burner in the evening and it becomes a cosy haven to snuggle up in on the sofa before heading to bed in the pretty bedrooms.

Search for over 60 gnomes and pixies at the Gnome Reserve and Wildflower Garden (5.5 miles), where you'll stroll through wonderful woodland and gardens on your journey, or see gorgeous roses, shrubs and maybe even the Very Hungry Caterpillar at RHS Rosemoor (13 miles).
