For that wonderful inside/outside feeling, you can open up the patio doors to the enclosed garden and step out onto the patio, which has a picnic table for al fresco dining and an artificial grass ‘lawn'. And when your pampered pooch needs exercising, there's also a dog-walking field next door with gorgeous rural views.

Located in the rural village of Tytherleigh, where there are footpath walks and an award-winning 16th-century coaching inn, the cottage is just 6.5 miles from Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's famous River Cottage Kitchen, a casual, dog-friendly place for delicious breakfast, lunch, drinks and cakes. You're just a few miles from the Jurassic Coast, and Lyme Regis can be reached in 9 miles. This pretty seaside resort with beautiful beaches, a picturesque harbour and the renowned Cobb (its harbour wall) is well worth exploring.

You could even join an organised fossil-hunting tour. Drive to Colyton, 8.5 miles, and hop on the Seaton Tramway, where a narrow-gauge, heritage tram will transport you to the coastal resort of Seaton through East Devon's glorious Axe Valley, or hike through the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty right on your doorstep.
