Whether you are putting your culinary skills to the test in the spacious kitchen area or grabbing forty winks in the lounge, you’ll feel right at home from the moment you scale the glass balustrade staircase to find your open-plan living space. Outside, there is an impressive three-tiered garden complete with fire pit and a lower-level area with play equipment.

There’s also the secret courtyard with its bar and hot tub. At bedtime, another staircase leads up to the three bedrooms and a bathroom. Seize the day and set out to investigate the iconic stepping stones at Dovedale (14 miles), cheer along the procession at Matlock Bath illuminations (2 miles) and gaze across the countryside from the cable cars at the Heights of Abraham (1.5 miles).

Bakewell is a short 12.5-mile drive away and promises tearooms, independent shops and quintessential charm, but there is also a popular outdoor adventure centre where you can arrange caving, mountain biking and gorge scrambling. For those who can’t resist the thrill of water sports, Carsington Water, 5.5 miles away, is a hub for activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding and windsurfing.
