Pet friendly holiday cottage, sleeps 2 - Lindale, Cumbria

The romantic cottage enjoys a quiet location in the pretty village of Lindale, on the southern edge of the Lake District National Park. From the cottage, you can spend a day at the races in Cartmel (4 miles), take a river cruise on Lake Windermere (5 miles), or soak up the sea air in Grange-over-Sands (2 miles). After a day of adventure, return to your cosy abode to snuggle up with a glass of wine in the glow of the wood burner.

The period property oozes character and cosiness, with sumptuous soft furnishings, plush furniture, and a plethora of exposed woodwork bringing style and warmth to each area. Stone steps lead to the front door, which opens directly into the lounge/kitchen/diner, with its beamed ceiling and roaring wood burner. Whip up tasty meals in the cleverly designed kitchen area to enjoy together at the rustic dining table.

After dinner, curl up in the armchair with a good book, or watch a film on the Smart TV. An open-tread, wooden staircase leads to the first floor, where you'll find the double bedroom, dressing room, and shower room. Outside, sip a morning coffee on the bench at the front of the property and plan your day's itinerary.

Journey north and you'll soon reach the shores of Lake Windermere (5 miles), where you can board one of the iconic steamers to get out on the water or enjoy a relaxing jaunt on the steam trains of the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. You'll also find a fabulous range of breathtaking walking routes to explore in the surrounding fells. Alternatively, spend a day at the coast at Grange-over-Sands (2 miles), where you can stroll along the promenade and admire the views across Morecambe Bay, before dining in one of the town's many eateries.
