Sleeping six guests and two dogs, this three-bedroom property is just 2 miles from Lake Windermere and 7.5 miles from Coniston Water. Head out from here to Lakeland beauty spots and follow footpaths through dramatic and picturesque parts of the national park.

Step through the porch, where you can leave your outerwear, and into the inviting lounge/diner. Settle in here in front of the Smart TV, with Sky TV and BT Sport, or play games together while the wood burner crackles gently in the background. Wander on into the well-equipped kitchen to prepare tasty meals for your party then call everyone to the table in the room next door.

At the end of each fun-filled day, climb the stairs to discover a twin bedroom and the family bathroom. A double bedroom, with an en-suite WC, and a super-king-size room, with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins if discussed in advance, are up on the floor above. Take breakfast, lunch and dinner out into the sunshine of the private garden, with its choice of seating areas, during your stay.

There is also a small stream running through the garden. There’s also parking for two cars, an electric hook up and bicycle storage at the cottage. Make your way 2 miles to Lakeside to take a nostalgic steam train through the gorgeous scenery of this southern section of the Lakes.

Alternatively, board a cruise here and disembark at piers along the shores of Lake Windermere to undertake walks and see historical sites. Head into Ulverston to browse in its shops, visit the market and dine out.
