This impressive property in the pretty town of Alston is perfect for families and friends to gather for a relaxing holiday or reunion. Ideal for walkers or cyclists, you can set out on the Pennine Way for an adventurous afternoon in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Alston's streets are dotted with independent shops and eateries to discover too.

The train station in the town is on England's highest narrow-gauge railway and is the starting point for the scenic South Tynedale Railway. Enter this stunning 18th-century manor house, and you will find yourself mid-landing on a traditional stone staircase – a fitting entrance to this magnificent property. A traditional pub and lounge area can be found down on the ground floor: a memorable setting for relaxed conversations or a pub quiz.

Enjoy feasting in a formal dining room, complete with a chandelier. The contemporary kitchen has everything you need to make meal preparation a breeze, but you may prefer to enjoy eating out in the village. Up on the first floor is a lounge with an open fire, plenty of seating and views over the garden.

There are four bedrooms on this floor, all are en-suite and have TVs. Up on the half-landing, there are two further bedrooms, one king-size and one single (please note, there is limited headroom due to sloping ceilings). On the second floor are another five bedrooms, all en-suite with TVs.

There is a large, shared garden at the front of the property and picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy a drink, watch for wildlife, and take in the beautiful countryside all around you. Three spectacular waterfalls are close by at Ashgill Force (5.5 miles), High Force and Low Force (18 miles). Talkin Tarn Country Park (18 miles) is a great day out for all ages with a country park, lake, water sports and fishing to enjoy.

Alternatively, to make the most of the activities in the area, head to the Bowlees Visitor Centre (19 miles) and choose an adventure from there.
