Dog friendly holiday cottage, sleeps 6 - Fernsplatt, Cornwall

For a countryside retreat in central Cornwall, stay at this delightful cottage surrounded by gorgeous natural beauty. It’s just 3 miles from the scenic Carrick Roads estuary and around 6.5 from the north coast, opening up plenty of opportunities for coastal exploration by foot, bike or car. It has space for up to six guests over its three bedrooms, so works well for a family trip or holiday among good friends, with one canine chum also welcome to join you.

This pretty white house has a pleasing rustic atmosphere and plenty of period features, including sash windows and wooden ceiling beams. The spacious living room has the unusual addition of a piano – great for a family sing-along! A newly installed wood burner is at one end of the open plan lounge/diner and provides that all important cosy atmosphere in the cooler months.

In the stylish modern kitchen, spend hours preparing multi-course meals in a holiday fashion, then pop open a bottle of red for a leisurely meal with your loved ones. The English country garden is a true haven on a sunny day, with its trees, shrubs, lawn and outdoor seating. You’ll also have access to a communal outdoor area with a fire pit and trampoline where children can burn off some of that youthful energy.

You’ll have a local pub within 1.5 miles and shops for picking up groceries a little further away (2.5 miles). Cornwall’s capital city, Truro (5.5 miles), offers plenty of shopping, eating and cultural activities, while St Agnes (8 miles) is a scenic village with pretty streets and independent boutiques ripe for exploration. Or why not head to Falmouth (7.5 miles) and take a boat trip from the harbour to view the impressive scenery from the water?
