Compact and convenient, it has an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with comfortable seating around a Smart TV and a dining table with views of the terrace. The kitchen has been cleverly designed to fit everything you’ll need, whether you’re preparing a picnic for a day trip or a leisurely evening meal. On the same level there are two pretty bedrooms, a double and a bunk-bed room, as well as a bathroom.

The decked terrace that leads off the living space has storage for beach gear as well as outside furniture for al fresco meals – the perfect place for a drink as the sun goes down. With a shingle and sand beach, a bar, cafe and restaurant all within 500 metres, the apartment is handily located for a fun seaside break. This is a fascinating and relatively undiscovered part of Cornwall, and if you want to get out and about, all kinds of treasures are in store.

Try the picturesque town of Looe, 6 miles west, or drive east and around the Rame Peninsula, Cornwall’s ‘forgotten corner’, with the pretty villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, and Rame Head, 10 miles, where there’s a Medieval chapel and gorgeous views of Whitsand Bay (whose beaches are never crowded). Inland, Golitha Falls, 13.5 miles, is a series of small waterfalls in a lovely woodland which is perfect for a walk, rounded off with lunch at Inkie’s Smokehouse BBQ in the car park.
