Pet friendly holiday cottage, sleeps 16 - Kirriemuir, Angus

Set in the Cairngorms National Park and surrounded by woodland, this eight-bedroom stately lodge is a sight to behold. Gather 16 friends or family members plus two dogs and enjoy a memorable getaway with plenty of outdoor activity including mountain biking, cross-country skiing and hiking. Formerly a shooting lodge, a sense of grandeur and period charm sweeps through this 19th-century property with high ceilings, sash windows and sumptuous furnishings throughout.

On the ground floor, you’ll find a bright and breezy kitchen where you can enjoy a casual bite-to-eat at the neat table. But for more lavish meals, step through to the grand dining room and enjoy a sociable evening at the table with seating for 16 people. Afterwards, retire to the lounge and sink into one of the huge sofas or armchairs.

Sit and chat with family and friends, practise your musical skills on the baby grand piano, or enjoy a spot of stargazing through the telescope. There’s a wood burner here too, to keep things cosy on chillier nights. A second snug room is perfectly set up for those who want to watch their favourite TV programme or catch up on some quiet reading in front of a delightful wood burner.

Further entertainment includes a separate games room where you can rack up the balls on the pool table or enjoy the thrill of the race-car simulator. When it’s time for bed, head upstairs and choose between two king-size rooms, five doubles and a twin. The bedrooms are attractive and seven of them include en-suite bathrooms.

Outside, a lawned garden with outdoor seating and loungers invites you to sit and soak up the natural beauty of the place. The patio table is also an idyllic spot should you fancy eating al fresco. The property cannot be used to accommodate weddings.
